About Smiley Xtra

Smiley Xtra started off after a chance comment complaining about the lack of smilies available on a forum. It was originally a stand-alone windows application, but as of version 3 it became a Firefox extension. Version 4 added lots of new features to Smiley Xtra and lasted for over 2 years before being replaced by Smiley Xtra 5. During that period, it received over 200,000 downloads and was translated into 10 different languages.

Smiley Xtra 5 has been in development on and off for 18 months, and during that time has gone through a number of rethinks and redesigns. The final product is the culmination of all those redesigns, and is hopefully one that artists and users alike will find an improvement over Smiley Xtra 4.

About James Baker

James Baker is the founder and developer of Smiley Xtra. When he's not working on Smiley Xtra - or providing tech support to it's users - he's a full-time student studying Physics at Oxford University. He also enjoys spending time outside, playing the Trumpet, and is an active member of The Scout Association.

You can read his blog at http://blog.smileyxtra.co.uk, or you can contact him at .

James has recently launched another project, The Pubs of Oxford. The Pubs of Oxford lists the opening times and vitals of pubs in and around Oxford. Essential for anyone looking for somewhere to quench their thirst amongst the dreaming spires. There's even a special version for people using an iPhone or Android!

Special Thanks

There are a few people that also deserve thanks for their work to make Smiley Xtra a reality. Firstly, credit is due to Mark James for his Silk Icons set, a selection of which can be found in the menus of Smiley Xtra.

And of course, a very special thanks to all the staff and artists over at deviantART, whose work has made Smiley Xtra 5 possible. Where would we be without them?
